The following sentence comes directly from the V3R1 Windows Backup-Archive
Client <<<
http://www.storage.ibm.com/software/adsm/pubs/v3pubs/aix/html/adsmwin/cp5ec
6.htm >>> in the section on the Exclude (specifically Exclude.Dir) option.

"You cannot, however, specify wildcard characters on the directory name
when you want to exclude a single directory. For example, if you enter:
exclude.dir \home\xx\test*
these directories are excluded: \home\xx\testold, \home\xx\testnew, and
\home\xx\test."

Further, in the section on wildcards, it says

"* The match-all character matches zero or more characters; it does not
cross a directory boundary. Use it in the drive name and file name only; do
not use it in a directory name. "

But, back in the Exclude section it says:

".dir Excludes an entire directory from backup services. The pattern is
used to find matching directory names. If a matching directory is found,
that directory, its files, and all its subdirectories and their files are
excluded from backup services."

When it says "the pattern is used to find matching directory names",
doesn't that imply wildcards, which implies asterisk"?

Now go back above and look at the example for Exclude.Dir. It clearly has
a wildcard in it. So what gives? Is the manual saying you can never have
a wildcard in a directory name (in which case the example is horribly
incorrect), or is it saying if you use wildcards in a directory name (which
contradicts the other sections of the manual) you may get more than a
single directory being excluded???
