Hi John,
i think you have to do the following:
1. Register the node REV_PROD on the MVS ADSM server too.
2. Change the dsm.sys file on the AIX client to include the MVS server
3. Change the dsm.opt file to point to the MVS server.
4. if changed, set the node name and the password in db config
5. db2 backup database xxxx use adsm

Subject: Mixing ADSM on mainframe with ADSM for AIX
Hello,
I am currently using ADSM/6000 on my AIX system to back up my DB2/6000 database
which is also on the same AIX box (we use optical jukeboxes). We are
considering backing up this DB2 database to ADSM on our mainframe (to disk and
to tape). Since we have ADSM on our mainframe (and more disk space and tapes
libraries) we would like to back the AIX DB2 database up to ADSM on the
mainframe. Is that possible? How can I set this
up?
My environment: AIX
4.2.1 ADSM
2.1.0.15 DB2
2.1.2.2
I have an escon channel to the mainframe which is running ADSM V 2.1
also.
Since I am backing DB2 from AIX up to the mainframe where do I need to set up
the node? Right now I have REV_PROD (which is my RS/6000) identified as my
node (on AIX) to backup my DB2 database to. How will I tell it to go to the
mainframe? I know there is a dsm.sys and dsm.opt files which can
identify other systems--is that where I make the initial link between DB2 and
ADSM on the mainframe? Right now my command to backup db2 is: db2 backup
database archive use adsm How will it know if it is to use ADSM on AIX
or ADSM on the mainframe?
I have adsm.client.admin, api and base at 2.1.20.7 on my RS/6000.
Thanks,
