Usually, you define the scheduler as an NT service to do backups.  To create 
the service use:

c:\win32app\ibm\adsm\baclient\dsmcutil install /name:"ADSM Scheduler" 
/node:yournodename /password:yourpassword.

Then use Control Panel/Services to start the service.

The win32app path might be Program Files on some newer installations.
