Has anyone ever seen a directory or file obtain a management
class of '<Unknown>' ?
I've got several thousand directories that seem to have lost
their management class identity, and they now refuse to expire
and cause thousands of error messages in dsmerror.log every time
an incremental backup is run against the filesystem in which the
directories formerly resided.
It does appear to be limited to directories. Here is a sample of
the output from a 'dsmc q back' command (pardon the
non-wrapping):

Errors in dsmerror.log are of this form:
11/03/1998 00:02:03 ANS1228E Sending of object
'/chabah11/POE/011/017/apebble/bpebble_matte.lvl/mb__10.drw' failed
11/03/1998 00:02:03 ANS1105E The management class for this
file does not have a valid backup copy group.
This file will not be backed up.
The client is an SGI IRIX 6.2, running ADSM 3.1.0.3, server is
AIX 4.2.1, running ADSM 3.1.1.5.
I'd love to hear if anybody else has encountered this problem.
I'm trying to expire these entries--I've even tried to recreate
dummy directories with the same names as the existing entries,
but am receiving the same errors.
