Hello
If the recovery log is full you can extend it even if the server is down.
ADSM server down
DSMFMT new reclog volume
then issue DSMSERV EXTEND LOG volnameofnewvolume
Server starts just enough to define the vol and extend the log then shuts down
again
Now you can start your server normally and get a DB backup to clear the log.
Considerations
1) make sure the new vol is a usable % of the total log 4 or 5% is usually
enough but I normally try for 10% to give a little wiggle
room as there was usually a problem with the DB backup that needs solved.
2) THE ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM SIZE OF A LOG IS 5.3 gb, do not know what happens after
this but I doubt it is good
As for specifying a drive to use, for DSMLABEL it allows you to specify the
drive to use. Other than that I do not believe you can specify or
predict.
Regards
Daniel
