ADSM and DFS (Distributed File System)
1998-10-15 14:56:52
As I see it...
ADSM will continue to backup/restore the NT File System (directory/files) as
it always has even when DFS is present. DFS is just a "logical view" of the
physical data being backed up by ADSM. I have read the suggestion (in a
Microsoft TechNet article) that you could use the DFS "tree" to backup the
logical view of the users data, but, this is not the standard way of
performing a backup with ADSM. I haven't seen any reference to "changing
the way backups are performed" or "DFS backup process/procedures" from any
of the current ADSM information sources. The latest ADSM Version 3 Client
does use UNC names which may be a step in this direction.(?)
Does anyone out there have any additional information that I should be aware
of???
Thanks,
Scott
