Hello,

We got the same problem upgrading from V2 client to V3.1.0.5 client on 95
and NT (for directories and files with french specific characters).

We opened a problem with IBM France and the problem is already known (apar
IC21764).
We have been told to put USEUNICODEFILENAMES OFF in the dsm.opt but it
doesn't solve the problem.
So, we're now waiting for news from IBM labs.
Our upgrade for all clients from V2 to V3 is not possible: the dsmsched.log
and dsmerror.log are becoming very very huge files, due to a lot of ANS1228E
and 1304W in these files.

Pascal.

Objet : ANS1228E Sending of object error message

On Windows NT 4.0 I installed the newest ADSM client Version 3, Release
1, Level 0.5. I made an incremental backup of data in directory c:\test,
command INCREMENTAL C:\TEST\*.*

I then got the following error messages:

25.09.1998 07:29:39 ANS1228E Sending of object
'\\w01abc3n\c$\test\12345abcde+++*+¼+"+-+o+¨+++ .12345$' failed
25.09.1998 07:29:39 ANS1304W Active object not found

25.09.1998 07:29:39 ANS1228E Sending of object
'\\w01abc3n\c$\test\12345abcdeäöüÄÖÜèéà.12345$' failed 25.09.1998
07:29:39 ANS1304W Active object not found

25.09.1998 07:29:39 ANS1802E Incremental backup of 'C:\TEST\*.*'
finished with 2 failure

These files do no more exist but have been backuped previously. Maybe
there is a problem with umlauts (if this mail was converted to ASCII you
won't see the umlauts)?

Any idea?

Thanks
