I double checked about the version and the AS/400 is still at Verison 2 of
ADSM. Version 3 should be out this fall.

Unless my customer has a tape library, I have them check in specific tape
volumes and not use scratch. If your tapes are already enrolled, then ADSM
will ask for whichever tape currently being written to. I have these messages
going the the system operator msgq. When the tape is empty, ADSM will
recognize that it is. If you want to reclaim it before it is empty, you'll
need to do a move data, probably back to disk, and then when your migration
occurs that info will be sent to whatever tape is currently filling.

I had heard from Supportnet that V3 was the current version of OS/400, but
since when are they right :)

I've never used ADSM with just a single tape drive... What do you have to
do to tell ADSM what tape your going to insert? And, what happens when the
tape is empty enough to be brought back? With only one drive you can't
really do reclaimation.

I'm setting up this exact scenario at the office to test with...

Thanks :)
