hi

i read with interest the remote-client restore messages. we have many clients
being backed up and
most of them are remote. to restore we change the opt file, but this gets messy
when ppl forget to
change opt files back, etc. then i read that webshell is a good solution but it
does not show or
allow u to restore inactive files. that's pretty dumb cos we often get requests
to restore older
versions of files.

we are running adsm v2.1 and v3 on two nt 4.0 servers. some clients are v2 and
others are v3 and we
backup both os/2 and nt clients. we are slowly migrating our v2 to v3.

we are not rushing to roll out adsm across all our clients cos of the
relatively clumsy way that
adsm handles remote restores - especially as our operators are non-technical
and it gets too
messy to have them fiddle with opt files and other things - and the techo ppl
are always too
busy (and too important - so they say) to be employed to do remote restores.

what is the best way for non-techncial personel (ie help desk operators) to
restore files? it's got
to be easy, graphical and foolproof - that's why we bought adsm.

regards
shane
