Tape Library Cleaning

I'm hoping that someone has come across this problem and solved it.  Is
anyone using an Exabyte 220 (8mm) Tape Library on an NT ADSM Server v3.0?
If so, how was the tape drive cleaning managed? It is my understanding that
ADSM does not manage tape drive cleaning.
