Hello,

What does your call to dsmInit look like? Is this a UNIX system and if so, is
passwordaccess set to generate? If the answer is "yes", then you need to set up
a new stanza in dsm.sys that has "nodename admin" in it. Then you can pass
"-servername=stanzaname" to dsmInit via the 8th argument, which is for options.
You'll need to initialize the encrypted password first using the regular
backup-archive client (i.e. run "dsmc query filespace -servername=stanzaname",
and enter the password when prompted).

Alternatively, if you want "admin" to be a virtual root user, you can pass
"-virtualnodename=admin". You will also have to pass "admin" as the password.
However this is a little less secure, so the first option I mentioned is what I
recommend.

Subject: API calls

Hi,

Is there anyone who can help me with my dsmInit API call.

The question is, if there is a way to connect to the ADSM Server by using API's
with nodename ADMIN and password ADMIN.
It seems that i always have to connect to the server using the nodenname of the
server, and that is very strange. I only want to open a session using API's
with name ADMIN and password ADMIN.

Hopefully someone can help me...

with kind regards, / met vriendelijke groeten,
Johan Pol
