Unfortunately some of the nodes with 1-3 terabytes of information will
     kind'a exceed our MVS disk storage by just a littlt bit ;-)

     But that will probably work on a majority of the nodes... especially
     if I selectively export  the backup & archive data one at a time.

     And thanks, that one hadn't crossed my mind.

Have you considered exporting to a devclass with devtype FILE and then
transferring the file via FTP
to the AIX system?
