I work with an MVS server, but am not fluent in writing vast amounts of JCL
(and don't have the time to pursue the same with someone in the MVS
technical support group who may not even have my skill level). Would you
mind posting your utility here on the List so others could see what you've
done? I can fill in the blanks required to get something like that working
in my own environment.

Greetings David,
If your server platform is MVS, you can write a utility batch job to
read the log and create a summary report of backup/arc activity from the
previous day, and send it to your e-mail account.
I would suppose the mid range servers have the same 'shell' type process
available.

How do ya'll get notified that a backup job completed on Solaris systems?
I would like to see an e-mail from each of the stations getting backed up
instead of checking the logs...
