Do you have a file size restriction on the diskpool ? That could be
forcing some inbound files to go directly to tape...

THEN it might be trying to mount a fresh scratch tape and your
     MAXSCRATCH limit has been reached.

This is... if all the hardware is OK !

I do a daily "q vol acc=reado, unavail, destroyed, offsite" to see if
anything happened during the last 24 hours that has screwed up my
     life...

I've assembled the ADSM servers where they will remain functional
through about anything... checking on volume access within ADSM has
pointed out failed hardware prior to other means of notification
multiple times on our adsm servers...

     later
          Dwight

pardon me if am wrong but it seems obvious that it should check for the
tapes. because a general configuration of ADSM has the next storage pool
of any DISKPOOL is configured for TAPEPOOL. If you wish to circumvent
the problem assuming that you have enough disk storage space , you could
do either of the following.

1)remove the next storage pool ( This is self defeating for obvious
reasons)
2)you could set the maxsize in the disk storage pool to nolimit.
