Hi ADSM'ers, IBM-Development-team
My setup is as follows:
AIX 4.1.5: ADSM-SERVER 2.1.0.12
AIX 4.2.1: ADSM-AIX-Client (Level 3.1.20.3) and the relevant
AFS-BUTA-binaries ( from the fileset:adsm.butaafs.client.aix42 ),
using the Version 2 document "AFS/DFS Backup Client"
(SH26-4048-00) and the V3 README's.
I'd like to comment/ask ( and hope for some answer ):
I would suggest that you install the latest fixtest for buta client.
Most of the problems have been fixed in the fixtest release.
1. Is the V3 of "AFS/DFS Backup Clients" document already available ?
Especially the documentation for "delbuta" is of interest.
Yes, "AFS/DFS Backup Clients" document for ADSM V3 is available.
2. The V3.00 /usr/afs/buta/delbuta works only correctly in the above
mentioned environment for a "delete by dumpid".
Deletion by date or by age are not working.
Fixed in the later release of delbuta.
3. In addition to that, the DSMI_DIR ENV-variable is NOT respected by
"delbuta".
delbuta uses ADSM ENV DSM_DIR not DSMI_DIR
4. The file "/tmp/butaworkfile" MUST exist, otherwise "delbuta" tells me:
"Error opening workfile /tmp/workfile".
Fixed in the later release of delbuta.
5. If I honour the o/p of the "delbuta -h" I could draw the conclusion,
that the "-d" option is not yet Y2K-compliant, i.e.
-d specifies a date in mm/dd/yy format. Backups created on or
before this date are deleted.
before this date are deleted.
Is my assumption correct ?
-d following assumption is made by delbuta while processing date. If
the year specified is between 90 and 99, 1900 is added to the year
the year specified is between 90 and 99, 1900 is added to the year
otherwise 2000 is added.
6. If I do a "query filesp rzds1 /89* f=d", I get the following o/p:
Node Name: RZDS1
Filespace Name: /894554828
Platform: AIX
Filespace Type: API:DSMAPI
Capacity (MB): 65.536,0
%Util: 100,0
Last Backup Start Date/Time:
Days Since Last Backup Started:
Last Backup Completion Date/Time:
Days Since Last Backup Completed:
.....
Question: why are there NO timestamps ( as usual for NON-BUTA
filespaces ) ?
7. If I do a "query filesp rzds1 /afs/*peter" I get the following:
Node Name Filespace Platform Filespace Capacity
%Util
Name Type (MB)
------------------------------ ----------- -------- --------- --------
---
-----
-----
RZDS1 /afs/tu-bs- AIX unknown 70.31RZDS1
/afs/tu-bs- AIX unknown 70.312,5
0,0
.de/usr/u-
sr37/peter
The above mentioned filespace was created using a
"VIRTUALMOUNTPOINT /afs/tu-bs.de/usr/usr37/peter"
and run by "/usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmcafs".
Question: Why is the "Filespace Type" UNKNOWN ?
TIA
