Julie,
The document on page 24 is correct. In order to run a program from Lotus Notes
server console, you have to prefix with the word "load". Below is the detail
instruction for scheduling Lotus Notes agent on NT.
There are two ways to schedule Lotus Notes Connect Agent on NT:
1. If you are to schedule databases backup when the Lotus Notes server is up
and running,
you can either use the Lotus Notes scheduler or ADSM scheduler.
2. If the Lotus Notes server is down, then you can only use the ADSM scheduler.
Below are instructions on how to schedule databases backup in each case.
1. By using the Lotus Notes scheduler on the Lotus Notes server:
----------------------------------------------------------------
On your Lotus Notes server workstation, open the server's names.nsf
database.
On the navigation panel, select Server/Programs/Add Program. A blank
Program
document will be opened up. Fill in the required information. For
example,
to incrementally backup all databases in the server's data directory
each day
at 12:00am, set up the following parameters:
program name: dsmnotes.exe
Command line: incr * -adsmpw=mypw
Server to run on: <your server name>
Comments: <your comments>
Enabled/Disabled: ENABLED
Run at times: 12:00AM each day
Days of week: Sun,Mon,Tue,Wed,Thu,Fri,Sat
Save the Program document.
For more information on setting up the Program document in the names.nsf
database, refer to your Lotus Notes Admin books.
2. By using the ADSM scheduler:
------------------------------
Prereq: A node id for the backup/archive client
A node id for the ADSMConnect agent
Admin access to the ADSM server
The easiest way to set up the scheduler is by using the ADSM admin GUI.
From the admin GUI, choose Central Scheduler/BA Schedules. From the
BA Schedules window, select Edit/Add. The Add window will come up. Fill
in the required parameters:
Policy Domain : <your policy domain>
Schedule name : <your schedule name>
Description: <your description>
Associated nodes: <your client node id>
Objects: dsmnotes incr * -adsmpw=mypw
Action: COMMAND
Timing: <Fill in the backup time info>
Add the schedule to the BA Schedules window.
On the NT command window type:
dsmc sched
to activate the scheduler.
The process seems to be complicated but it is pretty straight forward
if it is done through the ADSM admin GUI.
Before you try to schedule to run it automatically, try to run it manually once
to make sure there is no error first.

Subject: ADSMConnect for Win NT usage
I have a document entitled ADSMConnect Agent for Lotus Notes on Windows NT,
SH26-4065-01, dated 3/9/98.
It says on pg 23 If the Lotus Notes server is offline, the dsmnotes
commands can be run from the Windows NT command line.
On pg 24, it says, if the Lotus Notes server is online, the dsmnotes
command must be prefixed with the word LOAD.
When I was trying to figure out how to schedule a nightly incremental,
someone on this list told me that LOAD is only for the AIX environment.
Does anyone know, is this document wrong?
Can I really issue all the same commands regardless if the Notes server is
up or down, from the command line?
Thanks!
Julie
