It could be several things. One common problem occurs if one or more of the
hives (high level keys)
are restored and the machine is not rebooted. When a registry key is replaced
and placed "online",
the system holds it open until the machine is rebooted, and  any attempt to
save it (as REGBACK does)
will produce an error. There should be a specific error message in the ADSM
error log (dsmerror.log),
and if you post it or send it to me directly I will take a look.

ADSMer's,

        Please help me.  I've been getting the following error when
trying to backup an NT server:

05/03/1998 19:01:32   Server date/time: 05/03/1998 19:10:46  Last
access: 05/03/1998 19:01:47

Registry Backup Function Invoked.
05/03/1998 19:01:32
   Save Registry Key: RootKey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE', SubKey 'SOFTWARE'

05/03/1998 19:01:32 ANS1435E An Error Occurred saving the Key.
05/03/1998 19:01:32 ANS1428E Registry Backup function failed.


        I checked the manual but it says to contact System Admin
(myself)??  Has anyone seen this error??

Server OS/390 V3 R1
Client NT 4.0 V3 R1 L0.1
