Check you dsierror.log file, this is usually an authentication problem.
The connect agent requires a few environment variables to be set, even
before you run the
aobpswd, like DSMO_NODE, see the README in the /usr/lpp/adsmagent/aob
directory.
I had the same error yesterday when a user had copied the development
profile onto the production machine and the DSMO_NODE variable was
different.
I have this running on a version 3 server, with the version 3 API OK,
even with the V2 Connect agent.
Make sure you have the DSMI_LOG varaible set so that the dsierror.log is
in the same place each time you run RMAN.
