We are experiencing problems with machines that are running NT 4.0 and
TCP/IP errors. Backup failures are intermittent on filespaces on
various machines. Each machine dies with some type of TCP/IP error. We
have tried several perimeter settings for TCPWINDOWSIZE, TXNBYTELIMIT,
TCPBUFFERSIZE and others on both the clients and the server with limited
success. Switching the clients over to V3 has not solved the problem.
Although the clients do re-establish a connection, at times, (and even
this is not consistent) the error causes that filespace to be skipped
and the backup proceeds to another filespace. The only consistent
failure is with one filespace that is 30 GBs in size. Any suggestions of
what perimeters to set on the server side and the client side?

Our server configuration:

RISC 6000 7012
running OS: AIX 4.2.1
server version: ADSM 2.5.1.18
256 MB of memory
4 processors
Ethernet 10/100 MBPS MC Adapter
plugged into a 100 MBPS line

The NT clients are running V3.1.03
