We are currently utilizing the script method with traps being sent to
netview for appropriate action (page and/or e-mail).  However, we will
converting to Tivoli's ADSM agent late May.  I'll let you know the outcome.

I know your problem.  I just wrote a series of shell scripts to check the
backups, monitor server space, etc. and then I email and call on paging
software to send out notification of problems.  It has worked pretty well
over the years.  I use the paging software that is builtin to NetView but
there are many others out there.  Most large paging companies will even
page via email over the Internet nowadays.
