Hi Dirk,

It is normal for a volume in ADSM (whether it is a tape volume or a
disk volume) to go into a read-only mode when it has encountered
a write error. The reasoning behind that is simple: If you are getting
write errors to a volume it is better to mark the volume as read-only
than risk writing more data to the volume and then getting a complete
disk crash or permanent I/O error. The read-only flag that ADSM puts
on the volume has nothing to do with unix - ADSM only uses this flag
for it's own perpose.

Hope this clears things up.
