In answer to your question...

Yes - the V3 client now has the exclude.dir option which tells the client to
totally ignore that entire
sub directory path.
BTW the exclude.file option (aka exclude option) has to process the directory
structure so that it can
recognise other include.file and exclude.file statements.

As suggested the new V3 incremental by file specification would be the best way
to backup these
files in this particular situation.
