Ann,
Activate the accounting on ADSM, "set accounting on".

It creates a file, "dsmaccnt.log", that cuts a record at each client
termination. The comma delimited record shows date, time, node name,
client name, platform, backup Kbytes, archive Kbytes, restore Kbytes,
session time in seconds, media wait time in seconds, etc.

Most spreadsheets will accept a text based, comma delimited file.

In the AIX arena, this is described in the Administrator's Guide in
"Monitoring Accounting Records" (page 72 in V2 book for AIX).

I've used these records to determine throughput, scheduling to avoid media
conflicts, etc.

Hope this helps

Hi ADSMER's
Has anyone found a reporting facilty for backups? I am interested in
#bytes backed up, #hours it took , date it happened, network data transfer
rate: all those good things that are in the dsmsched.log but without having
to actually go into the client and browse the log. Doesnt this data exist
somewhere in the server database?
Thanks again for all the input,
Ann Courchaine
