First, I'd like to thank the person that referred me to the redbook on
backing up databases with ADSM. That helped a lot. I still have some
questions, though.
Logical logs: I can see that I've got logical logs stored since the
beginning to time. They aren't large, but there's a point where the old
ones have to be ditched. Onbar itself has no function for deleting
objects, and the versions settings for the copygroup don't help because
Onbar assigns a unique name to each logical log. As far as ADSM is
concerned, each is a unique file.
Secondly, assuming there's a way to delete them, how far back should they
be retained? Obviously, I should keep any logs since the last level 0
backup, but do I need anything prior to that?
Thirdly, will Onbar use inactive versions from backups? Suppose I do a
level 0 backup every day at 11:00pm. I then want to do a point in time
restore to 2 days ago. Will it use the corresponding inactive version
(and logfiles)?
