Laurie,

  The v3 client supports the ability to specify a path for an incremental
backup, unlike v2.  You can use the v3 client with a v2 server, with some
capabilities of v3 not being available.  I have used a v3 client attached
to a v2 server to run an incremental on a drive & path.

There was discussion of the exact problem you are encountering being
addressed with v3.  I refer to the problem of ADSM processing those
directories that are excluded.  Does anybody else on the forum know whether
this is addressed with the current or future versions?
