Hi ADSM'ers

I Think APAR IC14364 addresses our problem.

PROBLEM SUMMARY:
****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: ADSM NT client *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This problem occurs when files are *
* restored into directories that no longer exist. In this *
* case, directory permissions are restored with the *
* permissions of the root when using the sceduler. *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM CONCLUSION: This is working as designed and was *
* documented in IC07282. Directory permissions are restored *
* using -subdir=yes on the command line or the Restore by*
* subdirectory path in the GUI. Restore by Tree and Restore *
* by File Specification in the GUI do not restore NT directory *
* permissions as designed since these restore sets of files *
* rather than portions of the dir tree. *
****************************************************************

  PROBLEM CONCLUSION:

  TEMPORARY FIX:
  Use dsmc restore with -subdir=yes on the command line or
  dsm Restore by Subdirectory Branch in the NT GUI to restore
  the directory with the correct permissions.

CIRCUMVENTION: Use dsmc with -subdir=yes on the command line or
dsm Restore by Subdirectory Branch in the GUI to restore the
correct directory permissions.

In normal english that means use the CLI or V3 Client.
PS: The same effect's occured on our AIX Client's.

Subject: Directory permissions aren't restored (NT client)

Hi ADSMers.

We are working with:

.. AIX version 4.1.5;
.. ADSM server for AIX, version 2.1.5.6;
.. Windows NT 4.0;
.. NT client, version 2.1.0.6 (ptf4); and
.. anothers clients.

I and the NT administrator are making some tests. Everything works fine,
but we have encountered an undesirable condition: when we restore one
entire directory or one file, the permissions aren't restored.
We are using the "administrator" account, that have all the priviledges.

We have read the client documentation ("Using the Microsoft Windows
Backup-Archive Clients"), with the folowing information:

"When you back up Windows NT files on NTFS disks ADSM also backs up file
security information and these file descriptors:
    . Owner security information (SID)
    . Primary group SID
    . Discretionary access control list (permissions)
    . System access control list (auditing information)"

So, we have concluded that the ADSM will also restore them.
Could anyone help us ?
Thanks in advance.

Hadailton.
