ADSM Access command.

Hi,,,We have a special client node setup to allow our helpdesk to
restore files from different clients. When we add a new client we
issue the following command.
dsmc set access archive * SPECCLNT -password=xxxx -nodename=NEWCLNT
dsmc set access backup * SPECCLNT -password=xxxx -nodename=NEWCLNT
DSMC QUERY access -password=xxxx -nodename=NEWCLNT
So in our helpdesks restore procedures they signon as if the are
client SPECCLNT and then they are allowed to view/restore NEWCLNT
files.
My questions to IBM or experience ADSMers:
1.) Do we really have to do this?
2.) When the above command is issued from a machine that has a
higher level of ADSM on it then the NEWCLNT we may get the
following message when starting NEWCLNT
ANR0428W Session 10211 for node NEWCLNT (OS/2) refused - client is
down-level with this server version.
3.) Is there a way from the ADSM server (side) that we can tell
what level of ADSM an individual client is running?
Sorry for the long email..
Any help would be appreciated.
