Do you use ADSM client compression? If so, this sounds like APAR IC17108. This
should be fixed in 2.1.0.7, which is available on index.storsys.ibm.com in
/adsm/fixes/v2r1/aix/4.1.

Subject: AIX Client core dumps during restore

I wonder if anyone has seen this before.

Running ADSM server level 2.1.5.13 and client 2.1.0.6G, both on AIX
4.1.5 on 8 way 604 SP2 high nodes (equivalent to J40s) with PSSP 2.2.0.6
connected by an SP switch.

When attempting to restore an Oracle database, backed up using
straightforward file backup, the client processes for a while and then
suffers a segmentation fault and dumps. The tape has been audited and no
errors were detected.

We have this open with IBM but if anyone has ever seen it before it
would be useful to know! Our database is dead.

TIA for any info,
