We are moving data from OS/2 Lan Servers to Novell or NT servers.
Subdirectory by subdirectory, entire drives are not going at once or all
to the same place. Is there a way to reassign the backups to the new
filespace, like some way to do a
RENAME CLIENT1\DDRV\SUBDIR1 to CLIENT2\DDRV\SUBDIR1
so you don't lose all your old versions?
I know there's no simple way, I was just wondering if anyone has been
creative with backups or management classes and figured out a way around
this dilemma?
Once the files have been moved, they become deleted files on the old
client. I realize I could change the policy on deleted files to keep as
many versions as active files, and keep them forever, but I can't afford
the database space and they'd be difficult to find on restore. I just
want to tell ADSM a directory on this client1 has been moved to a
directory on client2.
Our collocation would be screwed up, but at least we'd have the backup
versions.
Thanks for any suggestions!
