OK was it the chicken or the egg that came first.
Well, really I should first double check... is that 8200 a tape
     stacker unit ? ? ?
     adsm> q libr

     adsm> q libr

     8MMLIB MT0 8MM /dev/mt0 0

so the first library above is using the internal 8mm tape drive on the
server as a manual library... the lower one is using an exabyte 10
tape stacker with its little internal 8mm tape drive as a scsi
library... soooo having left 8mm far behind I'm not sure what the 8200
     is...
BUT you have to have a library to define a drive, you DON'T have to
have a drive to define a library... (I hope I said that right!)
so here I guess it would be the chicken that came first...

     Hope this helps...
     later
         Dwight

     Hello ADSMers,

I'm testing the Solaris version of ADSM. Scrounged together a Sparc
10 with a few gig of disk, plus two Exabyte 8200 tape drives.
Installed Solaris 2.5, with ADSM 2.6 from the WWW site, downloaded two
     weeks ago.

The tapes work fine from Solaris with tar and ufsdump.

When I try to define the manual library to ADSM, I get the error message...

The 8200 drives are shown supported in the drive lists. I'm at a loss
to get any further. Any suggestions? Time to check the IBM WWW
support site...
