Hi,

two weeks ago I wrote:

What really happens was that I did a selective-backup from a directory with
migrated files. A small example (directory with two migrated files):

dls /ssa/home04/sscphenk/test:
  /ssa/home04/sscphenk/test:
   103321      4095         4  m      a
   206642      4095         4  m      b

dsmc selective /ssa/home04/sscphenk/test/* :
Normal File-->         103,321 /ssa/home04/sscphenk/test/a  ** Unsuccessful **
ANS4118I Waiting for mount of offline media.
Retry # 1  Normal File-->         103,321 /ssa/home04/sscphenk/test/a  Sent
Selective Backup processing of '/ssa/home04/sscphenk/test/a' finished with 0
failures.
Normal File-->         206,642 /ssa/home04/sscphenk/test/b  ** Unsuccessful **
ANS4118I Waiting for mount of offline media.
Retry # 1  Normal File-->         206,642 /ssa/home04/sscphenk/test/b  Sent
Selective Backup processing of '/ssa/home04/sscphenk/test/b' finished with 0
failures.

So, 2 volumes are mounted: 000517 and 000506

If you do a selective backup (dsmc selective) on a directory/filesystem,
everytime when dsmc hits a migrated file (HSM), the above ANR9999D message
is given and what is even more worse, another unnecessary tape-mounted is
done, the originel (filling) tape is used again, untill the next
migrated file is hit, and the same scenario starts again.

Don't have to mention what time is costs to selective backup a filessystem/
directory with thousends of migrated files, which I did ;-(
