Well, I'm back from vacation and have finally caught up with the list
mail, ADSM-L at least. There are a couple of things that came up while
I was gone that I would like to clarify.

Web Archives:

I have no problem with people wanting to keep their own archives of the
list postings. However, a web archive of the list postings since its
birth in 9/93 are already available at www.marist.edu/listserv. These
logs are maintained by the LISTSERV, so they are very current.

Also, I would caution everyone about the use of e-mail or list postings
written by others. As I understand it, e-mail follows the same copyright
rules as written or printed material, ie. the writer still retains some
rights over its use. Therefore, they shouldn't be used for purposes other
than the ADSM-L list without the permission of the writer, ie. publicity,
quotation, etc.

Signing off the list:

If you want to get off of the list, send the note to LISTSERV AT VM.MARIST DOT
EDU,
NOT TO THE LIST! There is no need to bother everyone else on the list with
it. The correct way to get off the list is to send the note to LISTSERV
containing the text:

UNSUB ADSM-L

If you are just going away for a little while, you don't have to unsubscribe.
Just set your subscription to NOMAIL (SET ADSM-L NOMAIL). Then set it back
to MAIL when you return. Any requests or commands related to your subscription
must be sent to the LISTSERV. Sending it to the list will not work. If you
are having problems with the commands, or if your e-mail address has changed,
you can send me a note directly. This will be much faster, as I am sometimes
a day or two behind on reading the list notes.

Weird Bounces:

Finally, I have received numerous complaints about people receiving a
weird note in German from a specific address. I have known about this for
some time and have tried to deal with the person who owns that address.
Unfortunately, he is either really clueless, or determined to be uncooperative.
Also, I have been unable to contact anyone, such as a postmaster, at the
site. All I get are messages in German. Unfortunately, my Spanish minor
really doesn't help me with this. Therefore, I have removed the offending
address from the list permenantly. If the problem can be resolved in the
future, I'll let him back on. However, we are approaching "hell month"
(September, when college and university staff expect to lose their sanity)
and I don't have time to deal with this guy.

It was nice to get away, but the vacation is definately over now...%-(
