I am not aware of the "fromowner" option. Is it documented somewhere?
FYI:
In trying the GUI I was able to restore the file after:
"Utilities"
"Display drives for node"
Click on restore drive
"Restore by file specification"
Well....is this a feature...or a bug in the command line? I thought the GUI was
actually driven by the command line and therefore never assumed the GUI would
work and not the command line.
I'll be calling IBM.....

From Dwight Cook:
Well, a couple of things....
1) cheat and pretend to be who you aren't...
dsmc -serv=servofotherbox -node=nameofotherbox -pass=passofotherbox
2) are you using the fromowner ?
query archive "/SomeFileSpace/*" -subdir=yes -fromnode=Client-1
-fromowner=Oracle-1

Subject: Not so simple restore?
Author: ADSM-L (ADSM-L AT VM.MARIST DOT EDU) at unix,mime

I have 2 NT 3.5.1 ADSM clients:
I want to restore a file (D:\notes\data\mail\auserid.nsf) stored in an NTFS
filesystem to the other ADSM NT client also NTFS.
1) I set authorization on the source client to * * * *... enabling any
node to access anything.
2) Backup by file specification D:\notes\data\mail\auserid.nsf.
3) Ensure the file is there
On source client: q b D:\notes\data\mail\auserid.nsf
Okay I see it!
4) Moving to target client... get the filespace name from source client
q f -fromn=sourcenode
Okay I got the filespace name {Data_D}
5) Verify that I can see the file from target client
q b -fromn=sourcenode {Data_D}\notes\data\mail\auserid.nsf
OH NO!
I get ANS4087E no files have previously been backed up for
+\notes\data\mail\auserid.nsf,
Same error w:q b -fromn=sourcenode D:\notes\data\mail\auserid.nsf
Same error w:q b -fromn=sourcenode \notes\data\mail\auserid.nsf
??????????
I have also tried to +query backup..., from my NT 4.0 workstation and cannot
see sourcenode,s file.
I have done this successfully using OS/2 ADSM clients... What am I missing????
TIA
