The 3590-B11 is considered a single-drive library, and there is in Version 2
you cannot reclaim tapes in such a library. The restriction is that adsm
storage pools have a one-to-one relationship with their underlying libraries,
and reclaims are done intra-storagepool. For version 2, there are a couple of
unsupported script tools that help the situation. These tools do MOVE DATA
commands to move data from a tape that needs to be reclaimed to ANOTHER storage
pool. Then the other storagepool can be configured to migrate its active data
back to the original. This will be done by ADSM in Version 3 without the
tools, but basically works the same way.

These tools available via anonymous ftp to index.storsys.ibm.com:/adsm/nosuppt
(or one of the shadows). One tool is called sdreclaim, and it moves the data
from your B11 to a disk storage pool. The other is t2treclaim, and it can move
data from one B11 to another B11. It basically assumes that your disk pools
"point" to one B11 pool (via the NEXT= stgpool parm) and that B11 points to the
other B11 and data is going to migrate from the first B11 to the other one.
You run the tool against the bottom B11 to get the active data into the higher
B11. The obvious disadvantage of this is you move data twice, and so you would
want to set up your policies such that the data in the bottom pool doesn't
expire as often.
