How much testing did you do of rereading the data? Nearly all of my
errors occur during audit volume ot move data. Another person having
problems reported the drives in a STK 9710, and seeing the read errors
during reading primary stgpool volumes to create copystgpools.

You might want to try auditing some of your volumes. If you get this:

ANR8302E I/O error on drive Q7.1.2MT (/dev/rmt/2mt) (OP=READ, CC=305,
KEY=03,^M
ASC=80, ASCQ=00, Description=Drive failure).  Refer to Appendix B in the^M
'Messages' manual for recommended action.^M
ANR2335W Audit Volume has encountered an I/O error for volume A0029
while^M
attempting to read: Node LISTSERV.ACSU.BUFFALO.EDU, Type Backup,
Filespace^M
/ssa, File Name /listserv/Maildir/new/
869138173.13902.listserv.acsu.buffalo.e-^
M
du.^M

The you have the same problems. the ASC=80, ASCQ=00 is a calibration
error. Once I see that, all subsequent reads fails with these:

ANR8302E I/O error on drive Q7.1.2MT (/dev/rmt/2mt) (OP=READ, CC=306,
KEY=03,^M
ASC=11, ASCQ=00, Description=Drive or media failure). Refer to Appendix B
in^M
the 'Messages' manual for recommended action.^M
ANR8359E Media fault detected on DLT volume A0029 in drive Q7.1.2MT
(/dev/rmt/-^
M
2mt) of library Q7.1.^M
ANR2335W Audit Volume has encountered an I/O error for volume A0029
while^M

which are general read failures.
