When shutting down the DSMC.NLM, you have to be a little careful.... If
there is not an active ADSM session, (no data is being backed up at the
time), then I have had no problems just doing an UNLOAD DSMC on NetWare 3.11
and 3.12 servers (no experience with 4.x).

However, if there is an active session, and data is being passed, THEN I
cancel the session from an Admin client. I believe using unload on an
acti9ve session CAN cause the server to crash, although I don't remember
doing it (but then again I am getting old.....)

I, too, have not gotten the "Cntl-C" command to work, but I suspect that
based on the comments I have seen here, that it only works when the session
is actively moving data - at other times the NLM would be asleep, and
probably not accept any keyboard input......

Hi all,

I tried to shut down DSMC.NLM by unloading the NLM, and got
a nasty warning that unloading the NLM "WOULD" abend the
server and in fact it did.. several hours later... I think.
It does remind me that Control C does a "quite nice job"
at ending DSMC.NLM, but then does not end it...

What besides rebooting the server works? The
manual gives only that option...

I suspect I need to get upgrades of this client software.
Im using an NLM dated 2/29/96, 405,240 bytes... time stamp
7:38p.

TIA
