I have come across this before and I have found that such
incidents correlate with some sort of mount/dismount/drive
failure. Can you check back in the ERRPTs?

If (and I believe) you are sure that the tapes are not
holding current, valid DBB backups then I would update
the status.

On balance I think that ADSM is taking the safest option
in leaving the tapes in private status if there is any
doubt.
