I haven't worked at tuning our 9710. I am using these parameters, which
I took straight from the ADSMEnh README for use with the 9710:

     AIX (non-SP2)
   BUFPoolsize 2048
   LOGPoolsize 512
   EXPINterval 24
   MOVEBatchsize 1000
   MOVESizethresh 500
   TCPWindowsize 256
TXNGroupmax 40 (256 if data migrating direct to tape)

We have six DLT 7000's in the 9710 on 2 scsi buses, running on an RS6000
J30 with 4 processors.
I have never been able to really stress the J30 or the 9710.

Last night my copy from the collocated to the non-collocated tape pool
ran for 2 hrs 17 minutes.
It used one process, mounted 12 DLT 7000 cartridges for input, 1 for
output.
The report in the activity log said it moved moved 179800+ files, 8.2
GB.
