Manfred,
        You'll need to use the EXPORT/IMPORT utilities to do this.  AIX has no
problem reading a 3490 tape created with the ADSM export utility on MVS
(don't know about VM although I imagine that would work fine also).
Unfortunately, you can't just take an ADSM db backup from MVS and
restore it to AIX.
