Re: Incorrect volume status on AIX server

That's 100% of the estimated capacity used. We have 3590 drives and they
all show est. cap. at 10G. As more data gets added, the estimaged capacity
changes. When the volume becomes full you can see how much is really on the
tape. A full volume can have only 24% utilization because some of the
backups on the tape have been deleted via the inventory expiration. Once a
tape is full it will always be full until all backups have been deleted from
the database, reclamation is run (and it met the reclamation threshhold), or
someone issues a move data on the volume.
It seems weird in the beginning, but as you get to know ADSM better it
begins to make sense.

Subject: Incorrect volume status on AIX server
Date: Monday, April 07, 1997 3:31AM
Hi there
The above file contains the output of a q vol command. Notice the
volume status. How is it possible for a volume that is 100% utilised
to have a status of "Filling", and a volume that is
24 % utilised to be 'Full".?
Our setup consists of :
AIX ver 4.1
ADSM server version 2.1.0.6
Tape drive : 3570
Tapes : 3570C
Please help
Thanx.
