Joe,
We schedule an adminstrative command one a week as follows:

DELETE VOLHISTORY TODATE=TODAY-30 TYPE=DBBACKUP

This deletes all database backup datasets over 30 days old and notifies our 
tape manager
(RMM) to scratch the volumes.

Each day I back up my MVS R2V1 data base:   ADSM is defined as an external tape
manager to CA1 but it appears that the tapes are never released by ADSM. Does 
anyone
know how this should be handled?
