I am a recent subscriber to this note server, and have not had the
chance to see old messages, so I apologize if this question rehashes
something that has already been covered.

I an in a situation where we are installing some Lotus Notes servers
that are running NT. The rest of our network (including all of our
ADSM control machines) are OS/2. We are currently still on ADSM 1.2
and the Lotus Notes is version 4.5.

I have obtained the Lotus Notes agent, and setup an OS/2 workstation
with the ADSM 2.1 client, Notes 4.5 and ADSM Notes Agent. This machine
woule then be used to map to the Notes server drives and perform the
backup of the database (.NSF) files.

However, when DSMNOTES is executed, it generates a SYS3175 which points
to the Notes file $LIB.DLL, followed by a SYS1808, giving program status
code of 0005.

I then removed the Notes 4.5 code from this machine and loaded Lotus
Notes 3.36, then reinstalled the Notes Agent. When I use DSMNOTES to
backup the sample databases from 3.36, it works like a charm for all
functions (backups, retrieves, etc). However, when I try to link to the
Notes 4.5 machine and backup those files, DSMNOTES responds that it
does not recognize the format of the .NSF files (undoubtable due to the
fact that I am using an older program library to access more recent data
files).

Is this a known or proven limitation with the notes agent? Or is there
something that can be done to get the Agent to work with Notes 4.5? If
IBM knows of this problem, is there any word on when an Agent that will
work with Notes 4.5 will be available? The primary application of this
Notes system will be mail service, and the potential size of the files
will not allow us to back them up using standard ADSM routines, so a
solution to this issue is critical if we are to use ADSM for it.

I would greatly appreciate any information that anyone could provide
on this issue. Thanks.
