Roberto, try a QUERY REQUEST (or as I type "q req") if it happens
again... Like Lothar points out I would think you should see something
about where a request/reply aborted/timedout/...
I've not delt with an IBM7331 so I can't really comment on how it
would or should act but I'd want to be right there looking at it
when/if the problem could be caused on demand...

Look into the activity log. There should be at least one line like the
following:
<id>: type "reply <id>" and remove volume <vol> from slot number <n>.
Only the sense is approx. right of the above. I can't remember the
correct log entry.
