Phil,
I see that it's the Solaris 2.5 client that is supposed to do the full
incremental. This is documented under the fixes section of the 2.5
client where the fix for IC15350 is discussed:

"IC15350 - If you use the new Solaris 2.5 client for incremental,
           and the filespace had previously been backed up with
           the old Solaris 2.3/2.4 client, the entire filespace
           is backed up on first incremental with new client."

IC15350 is not discussed in the 2.3/2.4 client readme. Sorry for the
confustion.
