Scheduled sessions on Open Edition MVS clients
1996-11-22 07:45:14
Hi everybody
We recently installed the Open Edition MVS Client (Version 2.1.0.1 running on a
MVS-System 5.2.2) and now I'm on the way to test
all functions against this client type. By now everything seems to work fine...
Except for the scheduled functions (i.e. increm
ental backup).
I noticed, that once I have started the Scheduler on the client and the startup
window of the associated schedule is active, the
backup session starts immediatly and completes without any errors (that's OK).
If the startup window is not active the scheduler waits to be contacted by the
server (we are running the server version 2.1.0.9 on
an other MVS-System 5.2.2). Once the scheduled time is reached, the server
attempts to connect the client and fails with the
following message:
ANR2716E Schedule prompter was not able to contact client CHINFOMVST using type
1 (138.223.66.7 0).
It seems, that the server tries to open a connection on Port 0, rather than
onPort 1500, which is the default. The schedule daemon
on the client is still listening on Port 1501 (because of the TCPCLIENTPORT
option set to this value in the dsm.sys file).
So are there some special settings to do for an Open Edition MVS client? Did I
miss something? With other UNIX-Clients we never had
problems like this.
Thanks in advance and kind regards
