Jerry,
To use DSMSERV RESTORE DB you must first allocate new database and
recovery log volume(s) equal in capacity to that of the server being
recovered. Secondly, you have to initialize them by running DSMSERV
install. At this point you can run the RESTORE DB command. You will
also need a copy of the volume history file and your server options
file with its pointer to the vol history. This makes the RESTORE DB
process simpler as you can just specify a date rather than having to
work out which backup is on what volser...

A gotcha that got me was: do NOT restart the server between the install
and the restore db command. I found that doing this deleted all the
entries in my volume history file. Always keep a backup copy of this
in your desk drawer....
