Hello ADSM Admins!

First of all thanks to you for the hints concerning my questions about checking
the backup version files and adding volumes to a storage pool.
Special thanks to Jim Bootz and Joe Morris.

Nevertheless I have another two questions:

1.: When we installed ADSM (our SE from IBM supported me) and did the first
configuration, we created a managementclass MCDIR, which should improve backup
performance by holding the directory structure of the filesystem being backed
up. But I never found that this management class and the associated diskpool
were used. Today I had a look into the activity log and was suprised seeing for
all nodes in a specific domain entries lookink like this:

 11/17/96 07:59:29 ANR0830W Management class MCDIR in domain PROJECT-POOL
used by node JULIA in file space /home/s9 is no longer
active, or no longer has a BACKUP copy group: DEFAULT
management class attributes will be used for expiration.
They seem to appear every day for every node in this domain.

It is right that there is no backup copy group defined for Management Class
MCDIR. But I do not see any association between any backup schedule in Domain
Project-Pool and MC MCDIR! I did not find anything in the documentation about
separate backup of the directory tree.
Can anyone give me some hints?

2. Some days ago I installed the latest IRIX client on a SGI Challenge running
IRIX 6.2. Everything looked fine, automatic backup schedules and the dsm/dsmc
clients worked well.
Since yesterday, I do net get a prompt when starting dsmc. When starting dsm,
the window comes up, but it is completely empty.
The ADSM server is running, other AIX clients are also running.
Since I do net get any error message, how can I get any debug information?

Sorry for so much writing, but any hints are welcome.

Thank you,

Karl Molter
