We will be moving our server from one MVS machine to another next month. As
we plan, one question came up about clients reconnecting to the server after
we have moved it. Most of our clients use TCP/IP and Domain Name Services
(DNS) to contact the server.

The question we had was: If a client has a scheduled session established with
a server, and used DNS to contact the server via the name ADSM, if we move the
server to another location AND change the DNS pointer for ADSM to point to the
new location, will client sessions be reconnected when the server comes back
online? In other words, is the client always going through DNS to contact the
server, and thus will find it after the move, or does DNS return the current
address, and ADSM then use this to contact the server. This later possibility
would mean that the scheduler would have the "old" address, and no possibility
of reconnecting until the scheduler was stopped and restarted.
