We are doing the same investigation. This is what we found
and it looks like we might be going in this direction.

The Storage Tek 9710 wth DLT 4000 is support - in a round
about way.

First, the 9710 is device support module level three in ADSM.

Second, you need to purchase the ACSLS program from
Storage Tek. This program actually controls the 9710 and its
robotics. It keeps the library inventory, etc.

Third, you need a third party product from "Open Micro". This
software piece interfaces ADSM with the ACSLS product
(around $7K to buy and $2400/year for support/maint).

So, it looks like this:

ADSM <-> Open Micro <-> ACSLS <-> 9710

BTW, according to Storage Tek, it doesn't matter what model
library you use, the whole system works the same way.
Except their silo librarys don't support DLT's, yet.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

In the current list of supported devices (April 5,'96,
doc:G225-6620-08) the list of supported DLT libraries doesn't
include any of StorageTek's products.

Does anyone know if there are plans to support, in particular,
the StorageTek TimberWolf 9710 w/ the Quantum
DLT 4000 drives?

On STK's web page
(http://www.stortek.com/StorageTek/9710/9710_frames.html)
in the "For more information" section, one of the choices for " I
plan to use the following data-management system
application:" is ADSM. Does this mean that it works today?
Or will work in the near future?

Also, if anyone has one of these beasts, what software do you
use to manage it?

Thanks for any information.
