"Schedule" is not an operand that you can use once you get the command line
interface started. "Loop" mode is the interactive form of the DSMC command,
and is what gets started when you just issue a DSMC command at a prompt, or
via a click on the DSMC icon. What you need to do is add the "schedule" parm
(no quotes) when DSMC is launched. Here is how I set up our scheduled
backups:

1. go to the ADSM directory, and highlight the DSMC.EXE icon.

2. Click on the right mouse button to get the options list.

3. Select "shortcut" - the shortcut now appears in the directory.

4. Hold down the Alt key, and click on the text of the shortcut icon, and
change the text to something meaningful, such as ADSM Scheduler.

5. Highlight the shortcut icon, and click with right mouse button again.
From the options window, select Properties.

6. In the properties book, click on the "shortcut" tab. On that page add the
word "schedule" (no quotes) after the DSMC.EXE . Click on the Apply button,
and then close.

At this point, you should be able to double click on the new scheduler icon,
and it should launch.

If you was to put this in the startup folder, use the copy/paste function to
move it to the StartUp folder - It is buried - My Computer - Windows - Start -
Programs - Startup.

I hope the above helps - I did it from memory, so I hope I haven't forgotten
anything important.

The Command Line Backup Client Interface under Windows95 is started with the
dms.opt parameter SCHEDMODE PROMPTED:

ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager
Command Line Backup Client Interface - Version 2, Release 1, Level 0.3
(C) Copyright IBM Corporation, 1990, 1996, All Rights Reserved.

Each time, when I want to start the SCHEDULER following message comes up:

dsmc> sch
ANS4844E Schedule function not allowed in loop mode.
 dsmc>

The explanation of the error-message says:
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------
ANS4844E SCHEDULE FUNCTION NOT ALLOWED IN LOOP MODE.

EXPLANATION: The operation cannot be scheduled during a loop mode.

SYSTEM ACTION: Event does not occur.

USER RESPONSE: Enter the command again without the loop.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anybody know, what the "LOOP" mean? Or
does anybody know, who to enter the command without the "LOOP" ?

Thank You for Your response
